How to Add IAM User to AWS Account for Support Requests

Instructions

These step-by-step walkthrough will show you how you can grant access to your AWS console so that I or one of our support representatives can help troubleshoot any issue you are having with your account.

Step 1

Go to your home AWS dashboard:

Step 2

In the search bar at the top of dashboard, search for the service titled “IAM”.

We will be creating security permissions so that one of our support representatives can login to your AWS account and help troubleshoot your issues.

Step 3

Click “Users” from the IAM home page. We will be creating user permissions.

Step 4

Click “Add User”

Step 5

Choose a name for your user or title the user as “support”.

Then make sure all 4 check boxes are marked the same as the picture below:

  • Access key – Programmatic access
  • Password – AWS Management Console access
  • Autogenerate password
  • Require password reset

Then click “Next Permissions”

Step 6

Then click “Attach existing policies directly”.

Step 7

Then check the box for “AdministrativeAccess”.

Then click “Next: Tags”

Step 8

Then click “Next: Review”.

Step 9

Then click “Create User”.

Step 10

Once your user is created successfully click the “Download .csv”.

You will then send this .csv file to a customer support representative so they may access your AWS account and troubleshoot your issue.
